Writer’s Prayer

Following in the footsteps of St. Paul
the Apostle, as a missionary
and as a writer
to share the Good News,
I begin with a humble heart.

I proceed as a pilgrim strengthened
by faith and trusting that you, Lord,
will lead the way.

Guide me in processing
the information before me
and in organizing
the details and ideas.

Come, Holy Spirit.
Impart your wisdom and inspiration
so that I may use the talents
you granted me to write clearly
and with meaning. Allow the words
to flow according to your will.
I am but an instrument.

In the words of Mother Teresa,
“I am like a little pencil in His hand.
That is all. He does the thinking.
He does the writing.”

Come, Holy Spirit. Use your pencil.
Amen.
